While student teaching (spring 2010) at Renaissance Academy in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, Caitlin was diligent, prepared, and engaging in her classroom work in Kindergarten and Third Grade (ZA endorsement). Although she demonstrated quality skills in all areas, Caitlin's achievements were most visible in her quality planning, superb resourcefulness, continual personal reflection and consistent involvement in school activities and professional development. Caitlin developed solid lessons that centered on students' needs, the curriculum and standards, and on elements of the Multiple Intelligences. It is quite common to see students use manipulatives and other hands-on activities to see, feel, and process lessons. Caitlin models well and maintains a flexible lesson tempo based on assessment as the lesson develops. After having achieved even greater success in her first years of teaching at Collins Elementary School in Houghton Lake, Caitlin accepted my invitation to be a presenter at the spring 2012 Central Michigan University Teacher Education Conference. Her topic dealt with transitioning into one's first year of teaching and being flexible and willing to take on the challenges of education. Caitlin's presentation was well-received. Caitlin has also been a strong proponent of professional development having maintained consistent attendance at conferences such as Best Practices in Formative Assessment as presented by Dr. Robert Marzano. She has also been the leader of a Jump Start program, has supported students as an after school tutor as well as having served as Grade Level Chair for approximately two years. Currently, Caitlin is working on a Masters degree through Michigan State University in Arts in Teaching and Curriculum which includes a Literacy Specialist endorsement. Caitlin Meyer is a fine person, quality teacher, and a strong student magnet. She is greatly appreciated by her students, the parents, and her colleagues and administrators. When we first met, she was an eager and hardworking student teacher, and she has continued to blossom into a highly successful teacher with stellar results in the classroom. I offer my complete recommendation, and I ask you to give Caitlin Meyer your fullest consideration. Sincerely, Mr. Lynn F.
